Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

The short version. KickOffMail is a daily soccer newsletter. To send it we need your email address, the teams and competitions you want to follow, and your time zone so kick-off times make sense to you. That’s the whole list. We only start emailing after you confirm the address, every message has an unsubscribe link, and you can change your teams or leave at any time. We show no advertising and we never sell, rent or share your address.

Who we are

KickOffMail is a daily soccer newsletter operated by Albert Balcells and SevenJ. It sends fixtures, and results if you want them, for the competitions and teams you choose, including La Liga, the Premier League, the Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1.

It is a personal project, not a commercial data business. There is no advertising, no sponsor tracking, and nothing here is built to profile you.

A general policy covering our other sites and apps lives at sevenj.com/privacy-policy-sevenj.html. This page is the one that governs KickOffMail.

What we collect

Only what the newsletter needs to work:

WhatWhy
Your email addressTo send you the newsletter. It is the only thing we ask for at sign-up.
The teams and competitions you followSo the email contains your matches rather than every match.
Whether you want the results emailFixtures and results are separate choices; you can have one without the other.
Your time zoneSo kick-off times appear in your local time instead of ours.
Subscription status and datesWhether your address is pending, confirmed or unsubscribed, and when each happened, so we can prove you opted in and honour it when you leave.
Single-use linksConfirming your address, editing your preferences and unsubscribing each use a one-time link that expires. We store the link’s token, when it was issued, when it expires and when it was used.
Confirmation attemptsWe count how often confirmation emails are requested for an address, to stop the form being used to spam somebody else’s inbox.

We do not ask for your name, your location, your phone number, or a password. There are no accounts to log into.

Website log data and analytics

Like nearly every website, kickoffmail.com records standard server log data when you visit: IP address, browser type and version, pages viewed and timestamps. The site also uses Google Analytics and cookies to understand which pages get used, and loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google’s servers receive your IP address in order to deliver the font files. You can set your browser to refuse cookies.

Confirming your address

KickOffMail uses double opt-in. When you sign up, your address is stored as pending and we send one email asking you to confirm. Nothing else is sent until you click that link, and the link expires after a set period. If you never confirm, no newsletter is ever sent to that address.

This exists so that somebody cannot sign up your address without your knowledge. For the same reason, we limit how often a confirmation email can be re-sent to the same address.

We also reject disposable and temporary email addresses at sign-up, checked against a list of known throwaway domains. That check happens on the domain part of the address and is used only to decide whether to accept the sign-up.

How we use it

We do not use your address for anything else, and we do not email you about other products.

Who else is involved

Fixture and result data comes from public football data sources. That is match information. No personal data of yours is sent to obtain it, and those sources never receive your address.

What we don’t do

Where data lives and how long we keep it

Subscriber records are held in a database on servers we operate in the United States. If you subscribe from outside the United States, your address is stored and processed there.

We keep your address while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep a record that the address unsubscribed and when. That is how we make sure you do not get re-added by accident or start receiving mail again. If you would rather be erased entirely, ask us and we will delete the record outright. Expired single-use links are of no further use once they lapse.

We take reasonable commercial measures to protect what we hold, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

Children

KickOffMail is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has subscribed, write to us and we will delete the record.

Changes to this policy

This version takes effect on September 2, 2026. If we make material changes we will post the updated policy here and change the date at the top. Continuing to use the site or the newsletter after a change means you accept the revised policy.
